GUIDELINE FOR MINI-GRANTS
(Updated Fall 2005)

1. Mini-grants in the amount of $100 - $500 may be awarded to individual institutions in SASASAAS. These grants will be granted by the full SASASAAS Board to an institution for programs which will benefit both the individual campus and the consortium as a whole and which support institutional outreach. Grants must match funds for a project on a one-to-one basis.

2. The request for a SASASAAS mini-grant must include a written justification for the grant that includes 1) the name and a description of the program to receive support; 2) the resume of any invited speaker(s) who will receive SASASAAS funds; 3) a brief explanation of how the program will benefit the academic and general community; and 4) a projected budget showing how SASASAAS funds will be used.

3.  Grant applications for spring activities should be received in time for consideration at the fall SASASAAS meeting. Activities to be undertaken in the fall semester (or in summer) should be presented at the spring meeting; in special circumstances applications may also be submitted by email to the Executive Director for an immediate vote.

4.  Normally, grants will not be made for the development of individual campus courses or individual research projects.

5.  The recipient of the grant must invite faculty of the SASASAAS member institutions to participate in the program. Invitations may be sent by email to the Executive Director of SASASAAS, who will forward the message to all representatives and interested parties.

6.  Publicity for programs which are funded wholly or in part by a SASASAAS grant must credit the consortium as a sponsoring agency. However, SASASAAS may not be held responsible for the contents of the program.

7.  After the funds have been expended, the recipient institution must give an account of all program expenditures to the Executive Director of SASASAAS to be presented to the full SASASAAS Board at its next scheduled meeting.

8.  Failure to comply with the above-stated guidelines may result in the request that grant money be returned to SASASAAS.
